The most important qualification of a good teacher
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. It’s my great honor to be here to deliver the speech. Well, basically, the important qualifications of good teachers are patience, proficiency of knowledge, and responsibility, which are the cornerstones to construct a good teacher. Nevertheless, what is the most important one to build up a good teacher? I say it is the spirit of inspiration. Like said that “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” And what I mean inspiration is not only to encourage and embolden the students while they are in gloomy mood, but also to stir and satirize them while they are at ease. Besides, a good teacher is bound to unearth the potential of students, that’s what I called inspiration, unlike the approach of filling the pail. I believe many of us may have read the passage “How I Found My Voice” by James Earl Jones, one of the most distinguished and versatile actor in America. Today he is living for his voice and known for his voice, but he had great trouble in speaking when he was a child. Then just because of the inspiration of his teacher Professor Donald, emboldening him to recite his own poem aloud in front of others, he made great triumph in vocal domain. It implies that the inspiration of a good teacher can create miracles and glamour, can change and decide a person’s life by giving a little prod behind then make him jump to the skies. It’s just like the beacon in the darkness, lighting the road of one’s future. A good teacher is the very holder of this light, enlightening and stimulating the students by inspiration, the lifeblood of his qualification. The Greek philosopher said, “The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.” I hope all of us who are willing to be teachers spare no efforts to inspire your students, and make them taste the sweetness by your teaching.
